I saw the video too... This happened about 20 years ago and it still haunts me to my core. I can barely handle a movie death let alone a real one so I'm not sure why I watched it in the first place. (Maybe a friend sent it to me?) I remember being on my new laptop I had just received as a gift and I started the video. I remember being confused by what was happening and then the knife plunged in and I specifically remember just a split second of resistance from the skin before the knife punctured through and then the sawing motion. It only took a few seconds for my brain to register that what I was watching was real.

Dota being as top heavy as it is right now in terms of money isn't really good for the scene long term. There was a proposal for a portion of TI money to be spread out through the whole year and that was actually good if executed properly. But since we're talking about valve here, expect nothing. RIP my beloved game The extra hoops to jump through for DPC events, the extra prizemoney needed to be paid, and not being able to secure sponsorships from industries that pay better rates were all factors that made hosting valve events impossible to make money on. Turns out my wife had opened up a charge card at our bank, then got a couple of store cards around town. She had purchased some serious clothes and jewelry, but the real kicker was she had bought a horse. She had taken lessons as a child and decided this was going to be her new thing.
