I saw the video too... This happened about 20 years ago and it still haunts me to my core. I can barely handle a movie death let alone a real one so I'm not sure why I watched it in the first place. (Maybe a friend sent it to me?) I remember being on my new laptop I had just received as a gift and I started the video. I remember being confused by what was happening and then the knife plunged in and I specifically remember just a split second of resistance from the skin before the knife punctured through and then the sawing motion. It only took a few seconds for my brain to register that what I was watching was real.

Everytime there's a post like this one there are comments such as yours which which blame Valve's top heavy money structure. Fact is, nobody even watches tier 2 and tier 3 Dota. Those matches, if played as a part of a Major/TI, draw in ~20-30% of the average live views and if played as a part of a tier 2 tournament, draw in ~1000-2000 live views.So quit blaming Valve for this, the community's tastes and preferences have brought this situation on and its completely FINE. This is not the only entertainment industry (or sport) where the 99th percentile strikes it rich and the remaining balance between two jobs. I find The Times balanced. It’s quite centrist and was pro-Remain. A little more to the right, but sensibly so - they were consistently critical of Cameron, May and Johnson. It’s informative. The Sunday Times is completely different. Trashy, biased, brexitty. Known as the "Gell-Mann amnesia effect" (though coined by Michael Crichton), the phenomenon in which people knowledgeable on a subject will criticise an article on that subject, but then go on to accept uncritically every other story outside of their expertise despite having just seen reason not to take the paper at face value. The Guardian as a source of opeds is basically a meme.
